Dividend money manager Federated Investors
is out with their latest investment commentary, which discusses their outlook for the economy and the performance of their Strategic Value Dividend Managed Account Strategy.

From the commentary: "December capped a year-long rally in U.S. stocks that saw the major indexes reach record highs. The advance was fueled by a domestic economy that, nearly five years after the recession, finally appeared to be gaining enough traction to allow the Federal Reserve to begin easing off the gas."

Bull Market - Happy Four Year Anniversary - Federated Investors

March 12, 2013
Federated Investors’ Senior Portfolio Manager, Philip Orlando, goes in depth with the latest economic and corporate news affecting the stock market. "Over the past four years, the financial markets have shrugged off a mixed, but improving, economic picture, while largely ignoring the ongoing fiscal-policy dysfunction in Washington. Focusing instead on the resilience of the U.S. economy and a powerful rebound in corporate profits, stock investors have driven the Dow Jones Industrial Average to an all-time record high on the fourth anniversary of the Great Recession’s market’s trough, while the other major equity indices are not far off." Strategic Value Dividend November Commentary - Federated Investors

December 27, 2012
Federated Investors’ November commentary gives their take on recent and upcoming events in the market and economy, as well as a recap of the Strategic Value Dividend portfolio’s performance. "Through the month of November, the Strategic Value Dividend portfolio proceeded on its way to achieving its objectives of providing a high-level of current income, long-term capital appreciation driven by dividend growth and lower downside risk. The portfolio finished with a gross dividend yield that measured 4.96% in line with its 5.0% target. This was significantly higher than the 2.28% yield of the broad market S&P 500 Index, as well as the 4.00% yield of the Dow Jones Select Dividend Index that aims to reflect the domestic dividend-paying universe." Strategic Dividend September Commentary - Federated Investors

October 5, 2012
In their September commentary for the Strategic Value Dividend portfolio, Federated Investors summarizes what they see for the final quarter in 2012. "As the fourth quarter of 2012 begins and the broad market focuses on issues such as the upcoming election, the persisting debt crisis in Europe, etc., the Strategic Value Dividend portfolio will continue to stay above the fray and remain rooted in its unwavering dedication to provide its investors with a high and rising dividend cash stream. By investing in companies that have both the ability and the inclination to pay and increase their dividends, the Strategic Value Dividend portfolio also seeks to position itself well to achieve superior long-term total returns for its investors, since history has shown dividend yield and dividend growth to be the primary drivers of historical total returns in equities. The portfolio is further complemented by the natural lower downside risk features of its high quality, high yielding holdings. All of these factors may make the Strategic Value Dividend portfolio a viable strategy for a wide array of investors, and demonstrate the benefits of investing in high quality, well-established companies that pay large and rising dividends to their investors." Presidential Cycles and Other Election Year Theories - Federated Investors

April 13, 2012
Federated Investors' latest report discusses stock market and dividend returns based on the outcome of the Presidential election. "History suggests that investors could benefit from paying attention to the presidential election cycle. In modern times, the fourth year of a president's term has tended to be a positive one for stocks, as the incumbent does all the he can to remain in office. But what happens if the president comes from one party, and Congress is headed by another? What if the race is close? What if it’s a landslide? And does it matter if the winner is a Republican or a Democrat? All of these outcomes can have potential implications for the economy-and the markets." Hard to Envision an Italian Default - Federated Investors

January 28, 2012
Chief Investment Officer of equities at Federated Investors, Stephen Auth, examines the sovereign debt situation in Italy and the chances of Italy defaulting. "It's one thing if Greece were to default (though that's looking less likely); it's entirely another if the euro-zone’s third-largest economy struggles to pay up. The worry is that nearly $260 billion of Italy's sovereign debt rolls over this year, with a significant chunk coming due next month. If investor appetite for Italian debt doesn't hold up, Italian bond yields may spike, Spain may follow and the risk-off trade is back on with a vengeance. We think this sort of thinking is misguided." Download Full Commmentary Here Get Free Research Reports about Federated Investors Inc [+] Read More

Federated Investors - Dividend Investing, March 23, 2010

March 25, 2010
Federated believes we are coming out of a 25 year period where the interest of investors was fixated on rising stock prices, and away from the cash component of equities. Due to the recent economic and financial environment, Federated thinks that an increasing amount of investors will start seeking a better cash return on their investments, and that dividend strategies will do well as companies start to become more dividend oriented.
